Shaping The Future_ Mr. Ranjitsinh Disale

"Teachers are the catalyst that can change the society, that can really make the world a much better place that student would like to you live in" _Ranjitsinh Disale

Teachers are the ceramicists who shape the future of nation, who guide students to be honest and successful. They inspire, educate and teach life skills to the child. An influence of a good teacher can change the student, a nation and the world.

Mr. Ranjitsinh Disale, the winner of global teacher prize 2020 is one of the best teachers who influenced the world with his notable work. Born in the drought prone village in Solapur district of Maharashtra, belonging to a middle class family he was convinced by father to take up teaching.

Teacher training made him realise that the real change makers in the world are the teachers and he ought to be one. He was assigned to teach in Zilla Parishad Primary School in 2009.
When he joined there as a teacher he was surprised to see the way villagers ignored education and schooling. The school building was turned into a cattle shed and store room. Most of the boys were made to work in the farm with families while the approach towards the girls education was worse. Girls were denied from proper education and were forced to child marriage. He saw it to be despotic, but he decided and was firm to bring a revolution in the village.

He took up the challenge and started working. He began with bringing awareness among the parents' mindset and then he himself used to go to each and every absent child and bring him or her to school. After almost six months of hard efforts he was able to have
100% attendance in the school. But then the challenge was to maintain it and make learning joyful and engaging.

He started that, "students of the 21st century are being taught by teachers of the 20th century using 19th century curriculum and 18th century techniques and only Technology can remove this mismatches"
He started with the initiative named 'Alarm on, TV off' every day at 2 p.m. he used to message the parents about the work of the child is supposed to do that day at 7 p.m. daily use during an alarm which was a signal for parents to keep aside their daily chores and look after the child's education for next hour.

He used digital gadgets in school for teaching that made students excited to learn. One of his most renowned work is that of QR codes he printed in books chapter wise that made learning more personalized, accessible and joyful for everyone. This idea was also adopted by NCERT.

Disale sir says, "The world is my classroom." He believes that he is ready to teach every child in the world he can. He shares his ideas with all the teachers worldwide and gets many from them. He felt the classroom shouldn't be limited to four walls but should be open to explore the world. He got an idea about 'Virtual field trip' where the student get to learn and interact with the teachers, students and places across the globe through video conferencing.
In his village, he also campaign to eliminate adolescent marriage and encourage education for girls. He was able to transform the lives of girls of the village.

He leads another initiative named "Let's cross the border" which promotes world peace. where he wants the students of various nations to understand and encourage the importance of peace and universal brotherhood. He wants the students who are the future of nation to take the decision for the countries they want them to be like.

His precious work was awarded  'Innovative Researcher of the Year Award' by the government of India in 2016, in December 2020 he dazzed the newspaper headlines, TV channels when he was awarded the Global teacher prize 2020 which is referred as the Nobel Prize for teaching and was awarded an amount of $ 1 million. He announced in his winning speech to share the prize money with the nine fellow finalists, to support their work. He believed that together they can change the world and transform the education system.

Now when most of us dream to be doctors and engineers, there are really very few who dream to be a teacher. But Mr Ranjitsinh Disale with his extraordinary work has proved that the teachers are the real change makers in the world. He is and will remain a great inspiration for all of us.

Gandhiji once stated "Be the change you want to see in the world" No one or no post you hold can decide your limits. Ranjitsinh Disale sir has proved that when you decide to bring a positive change then no matter who you are or where you are the sky is the limit for you.
